ProRes Raw Decoding Now Native in Premiere Pro

It’s been a long three years to get the full advantages with native support for ProRes Raw in Premiere Pro. Back in June 2020 Adobe released support for ProRes Raw but only with Nvidia graphics cards. This was great for PC users, but Mac users were left out since they use AMD GPUs. Import support for ProRes RAW on Windows is now available for Intel and AMD GPUs. ProRes RAW can now be imported across both platforms with all the major GPUs.

Atomos now has 20 camera models with ProRes Raw compatibility and with today’s update, you now can open and edit ProRes Raw files in Premiere Pro. What’s not available is full control such as ISO and White Balance settings like you have in FCPX. Hopefully, this will also be coming soon as it’s a vital option. ProRes RAW to LOG color space conversion is also available in Premiere Pro.

For Mac OS you will need to have the ProVideo Formats 2.1.1 update installed. The current version is 2.1.3.

ProVideo Formats 2.1.1 is required. A new 2.1.3 update is also available for Mac OS.
